The biggest advantage is seeing you photos immediately. During the session, we will pause periodically and view your proofs on the monitor. Our photographer will edit the images with your input and make helpful suggestions. This makes for a relaxed environment, since you don't have to worry about how you look or how the photos are turning out. You will leave the session knowing we have created the portrait that is right for you. Another advantage is that the same photos are available in either color or black & white. How does the quality of digital compare to film? It is the same as film. Digital files, optimized from a top quality digital camera, are better than a scan from film. Many of the photos you see in high quality magazines are now done digitally. Some people base their opinion of digital photography on inexpensive point and shoot digital cameras, which is not the same as a professional system. We will be happy to show you samples of prints from our digital camera. Can I get my portraits retouched? You bet, basic retouching is included with our digital business portrait session. This includes removing blemishes, lightening facial lines and teeth, and removing stray hairs. We go for a natural look, so the retouching isn't noticeable. We can do more extensive retouching if necessary at an additional charge. Retouching with film photography is more expensive and requires additional time. BUSINESS PUBLICITY PORTRAITS What is a Business Publicity Portrait? It is a head and shoulders portrait done in our studio with a plain, neutral background. Usage of the photograph, for public relation or publicity, is included with the portrait. We allow an hour for the appointment, although many people finish in less time. We shoot as many photos as necessary and work with you trying various poses and expressions to achieve a look that works for your purpose. Together, we will edit the images on screen, to the best three or four. These will be archive permanently at the studio and you can order prints at any time. The ones you do not like are eliminated; no more proofs of photos you dislike. You will take away a proofsheet of your final selections, from the session. How should I prepare for the photo session? Extra attention to grooming will give polish to the final image. If you are going to have your hair trimmed, please do it several days before your appointment. If you have it cut, allow at least a week. Many people have their stylist do their hair before the portrait session. Males: Men who have an afternoon appointment, may need to shave in the middle of the day, to avoid a beard shadow. Beards and moustaches should be neatly trimmed. Females: Make-up should be the subjects normal style with a matte finish. A color that would be worn in the evening, may be a good choice to bring out the lips. We don't want the lips to blend into the skin tone. What clothing should I wear for my business portrait? Simple, classic styles are recommended so that the clothing will not be dated if the trends change. Avoid loud patterns, busy prints, or anything that will draw attention away from your face. Suits with a good fit made from structured fabrics such as wool and linen work well. Single breasted suits tend to lay better when you are sitting for a portrait. Colors in the mid-tone range, blue, brown, grey, red, green, will reproduce best. Watch out for fabrics that wrinkle or fold such as silk. Shirts and blouses should be thought of as a frame for the face. Males: A good fit is important for the suit and shirt. Please avoid fabrics that wrinkle. If you have an afternoon appointment, you may want to consider bringing a fresh shirt to wear. For business casual, a white or light pastel shirts worn by themselves, tend to look washed out in photos. A better choice for business casual is a jacket with an open shirt or a sweater. Females: Metal jewelry works well. Necklaces should be short and go with the neckline of the blouse. Earrings need to separate from hair. Pins can be attractive but need to be fairly large to show up in print. Women with long hair should choose a jacket that is a different tone from their hair, otherwise the hair and jacket tend to run together in final reproduction. RATES AND USAGE What are your rates?
